This region of the French Alps, straddling the départements of Isère (38), Hautes-Alpes (05) and Savoie (73), is a paradise for lovers of wide, open spaces, thrilling (or more mellow) experiences and outstanding panoramic views. Situated on the climate barrier between the northern and southern Alps, it enjoys particularly good weather conditions, providing both plenty of snow in the winter and guaranteed sun throughout most of the year. Spring, Summer and Autumn

Outside of the winter, the whole of the Oisans is your playground to access and for any outdoor activity your heart desires. The beauty of the time from Spring through to Autumn is the vast change in the environment you will see. From the early budding of nature in spring to the burst of golden colours in Autumn.

Winter

In Winter the Alps are a wonderland, the tranquillity and peace, the glitter of the snow shining under the sun, and the invigorating air that fills the lungs and refreshes the body. Lovers of wild nature have an infinite playground in Oisans to marvel at the alpine landscapes.

Here is a varied program to change activities every day, ski, board, Nordic ski, snowshoe, ice climb, yoga outside and many more. Here you can alternate pleasures and panoramas, but also to devote more moments to sit down and share the peace.

Families

The Oisans are a playground for families. The breadth of activities and the majestic surroundings inspire families to experience adventures together, to make new memories and help parents win the fight over screen times!

From the traditional options of ski, snowboard horse ride and hike, to more adventurous options such as Via Ferrata, paragliding, canoeing, you can create a holiday packed with new activities to try and new mountain skills to develop together

Ski and Board

The Oisans boasts 4 separate ski areas wash with their own flavour:

  • Right on our doorstep, Alpe d’Huez Grand Domaine Ski : 5 resorts, 10,000 hectares of skiing, Europe’s longest black run La Sarenne and Pic Blanc at 3300m. 
  • La Grave – La Meije: an off-piste skiing area that is the only of its kind in Europe, a legendary ski lift and the Meije.
  • Les 2 Alpes: summer skiing, a benchmark snowpark and a 3,600m glacier.
  • Le Col d’Ornon: a human-sized resort, a mecca for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing and a wooded environment. 

Cycle and Mountain Bike

You must have heard of the Glandon, the Croix de Fer, the Galibier, the Lautaret, the Ornon and of course Alpe d’Huez with its 21 bends. We can be sure that all cyclists have heard about Oisans.

In the summer it is cycling events, such as Alpe d’Huzes, the Marmotte Grandfondo, the Tour de France and Oisans Col Series that set the pace of life in Oisans … Whether you are a professional cyclist searching for the ultimate training ground, or a more reserved cyclist, everyone will come away with a lasting memory of Oisans

The term Mountain Biking takes on a whole new meaning here! Jump on your mountain bike and tackle bike paths that start on the glacier at 3000m and descend for 2500m through meadows and undergrowth and finish in the grassy plains of Bourg d’Oisans.

With the MTB resorts of Alpe d’Huez Grand Domaine VTT, Les 2 Alpes and La Grave, Oisans offers you 3 very different domains with runs that have been designed and secured for riders of all levels. Maybe even take a look at the MegaAvalanche as your next challenge!

Hike and Climb

The Oisans offers walking and nature lovers hiking routes of all levels, whether you’re looking for a serious multi day guided/solo climbs or an easy day hikes.

Set among majestic mountains, Oisans is an untamed, well-preserved region thanks in particular to the Ecrins National Park, which boasts outstanding natural heritage, as well as a wide variety of landscapes and natural sites. Oisans also has 24 mountain huts that are perfect for taking a rest during your hike or for a friendly stopover night, before continuing the next day.
